It was on a recent trip downtown to run errands that I discovered Déco Authentique. I oohed and ahhed outside the shop and brought new meaning to lèche-vitrine. The pull from Déco Authentique was irresistible so I yielded, dragging D by the hand into the store.
I immediately fell in love with the antique cinema light in the store window. I want one for the über-design apartment of my dreams.
We ventured further into the store where I lingered over stone figurines and bird baths, which were being sold as vide-poches. Too cute and I wish I had taken a picture of them. (Maybe I’ll have to buy one to show you.)
Before heading downstairs I stopped by the display of miniature Smurfs to answer an important question: which Smurf are you?
The love continue downstairs. First stop was a table displaying sets of flatware. Completely retro and stylish, perfect for any dinner party or get together. And that Avignon mirror? It definitely has my name on it.
The pieces downstairs were a real treat for me: a set of antique movie theatre seats or an old typewriter, not to mention the kitsch of the 1958 enamel Pepsi bottle cap.
The wood pieces were stunners too. Tables, chests, and an antique American desk just asking to be taken home. Bistro tables and chairs, bar stools and arm chairs to tuck into cosy corners of the apartment. Now, just to find that apartment…

Really love this kind of stuff too. I always want to buy a typwriter because I think they’re cool. One day…
The store is a place I could get lost in.
Yes, the typewriter is so cool but to use one after having already fallen in love with my Mac… Hmmm, I dunno.
